The commission started from the proposal of the client to refurnish his vacant unit to house his family of four. HAL House is located at Sierramas, and due to it is still parked under strata title, the alteration on its external appearance is not permitted....
The client understood the house, although in good condition, did not quite meet their needs. They wanted a larger uninterrupted kitchen and more wardrobe spaces in their master bedroom. The existing wet kitchen was completely removed and combined with the dry Kitchen to become a more functional and productive kitchen. We also made way of third floor family area and transformed it become part of the bedroom wardrobe space. Limited in space, every square inch was critical to capture and use productively.
In the context of the pandemic caused by COVID-19, we see more than ever the need to overcome the conception of housing as a static, compositional and quantitative construction. On the contrary, we seek a residential close to its users, which enables movements and dynamic events, changeable, psychoactive, and unpredictable, able to accommodate unexpected situations such as a long lockdown.
